Dublin Core

Title

Community-led Housing (1960s-00s)

Description

Glasgow has a rich history of community-led housing associations and self organisation. This collection comprises histories of the formation of community-led housing and tenant associations and associated campaigns in Glasgow from the 1960s to 2000s. Community-led housing associations have radical roots in the 1960s and 1970s . Over time community-led housing associations became increasingly marketised and corporatised and no longer under community control but there are some contemporary attempts at reimagining the power of community self organised housing. This collection documents the radical histories and possibilities of community-led housing associations, including the creation of Partick community housing association, the formation of Easthall Tenant Association and work of housing activist Cathy McCormack, and women-led self build development Take Root (1990s-00s)
